As you will notice, there are many photographers who have dedicated themselves to the search for alternative realities, to rarefied atmospheres, sometimes surrealist, and put their stories in front of us, unique from time to time. Anna Di Prospero pursues a vision that is free from the simple reproduction of reality and use of photography as a means of expressing ideas, feelings and visions. You can see some of her pictures in "La memoria delle stazioni", at Auditorium Parco della Musica, Roma from the 16th of September and in "Empatie Visive" at Maria Livia Brunelli Home Gallery in Ferrara until the 29th of October.

🎈 HUMAN CROSSING
A conversation with Stefano Comensoli_Nicolò Colciago by Elena Solito

Stefano Comensoli (Milano, 1990) e Nicolò Colciago (Garbagnate Milanese, 1988) are two contemporary explorers. Their field of action is the human landscape (industrial, city and natural). The remains of this experience are transformed into connective energies with other objects and other places, giving rise to dialogical works. These energies describe man and his stories, time going by, space that changes and it is often destroyed. But they also anticipate a possible vision of a future. It can be a thought, an aspiration, a reflection that passes through objects and things, to be returned and recovered through artistic practice.

Archiving Encounters is a series dedicated to the exploration of archives in contemporary art practices. This time Benedetta D’Ettorre will explore the research of Eleonora Roaro (Italy, 1989), visual artist and researcher living and working in Milan. In her practice she mainly works with moving images, in particular videos, and archival practices. One of her interests lies in the archaeology of cinema, both as a way to explore the historical ways of engaging with moving images and film and, for us today, as a means to explore the historical, social and cultural dynamics connected with these spaces of spectatorship.

🎈THE CHIVALROUS ADVENTURES OF SPAZIO GAMMA

This is the story of a cultural adventure with features very similar to a chivalric journey. The protagonists are two fearless young people from Lombardy with noble and generous hearts, close to those we have come to know in the pages of Ariosto, Cervantes, or Moderata Fonte. As in any self-respecting epic challenge, battles and pitfalls await them along the way, but their hearts will always remain steadfast in their chests. Of course, adversaries and challenges will have different shapes and guises from past ones, but they will be no less devious or deceitful. Our protagonists decide to open a bookshop in Italy, one of the least read countries in Europe1. Scornful of the danger, they also dedicate half of the space to contemporary art and proudly defy Italy’s suspicion and total indifference toward artists. Are these not the proper premises for an impossible undertaking or a current chivalric adventure?

Between 2001 and 2005 Daniele Daniele began his training in the studio of the Parma-based artist Giuliano Ziveri, while at the same time he obtained a degree in political sciences. With this duality, his researches started from an inner unavoidable need to focus on the wider anthropological concept of “human”, from its figurative representation through drawing and oil portraits. Yet, a peculiar fascination for new technologies and digital art techniques marked his poetic, consciously settled in our controversial time, far from any futile anachronism and where machines are powerful meanings for art to spread onto endless possibilities.

Is there something we can call natural? Human activities altered nature forever: earth, water and air are different from some years ago and they will never be the same. From the discovery of agriculture, humans improved plant production, selecting seeds, changing their habitat and creating new species. This is the Antropocene era: nature has been so stressed by humans that it dies or finds new ways to survive. In his artistic research Luca Petti (Benevento, 1990) explores the relationship between human activity and nature, to point out the processes behind the practices of production and their relations to the environment. He imagines a close future where animals and plants evolve, creating new relations with other species and the environment. His sculptures weave together research, imagination and harmony.

Our latest issue is coming

Tales from the inside_out: lost in the mirror is t

Tales from the inside_out: lost in the mirror is the last exhibition of the 2022 season of co_atto, a project space founded by Stefano Bertolini, Ludovico Da Prato, and Marta Orsola Sironi, and hosted in eighteen display windows located inside the Porta Garibaldi railway and underground station in Milan. The exhibition presents the artworks of Stefano Bertolini, Izaak Brandt, Nicole Colombo with Federico Fontanella, Matteo De Nando, Luca Loreti, Domenico Ruccia, Adelisa Selimbašić, Elio Ticca, as well as Martin Hotter, representing the Viennese gallery Vin Vin.

The paintings displayed in this exhibition rely on

The paintings displayed in this exhibition rely on a deeply human theme. Here, inside the walls of a building conceived since its foundation as the ‘Painters’ House’, two artists showcase the product of a residency held from February to April. Their reflection has archaic and obscure roots in the rock drawings, in the inescapable human desire of subjectivizing through Painting: that Ancient Foreigner, who since the dawn of time fascinates and bewitches, without ever conceding. Speaking the language of this foreign goddess, mutable and capricious, remains mostly impossible. Yet, she finds a way to reveal herself to those who unceasingly and completely try to chase her....

Leo Burtin is an artist, writer and educator. Since 2012, he has been developing pieces which gently, poetically and playfully disrupt the overtly familiar act of sharing food. Drawing from professional experience in producing theater performances but building on the questions raised by artists through relational aesthetics and socially engaged arts, Burtin uses food as a methodology and as a method to tell stories and engage audiences during participatory performances.
